This course builds on language skills developed in Chinese 1 and 2. The course will review the basic grammar and sentence patterns of Chinese. At the same time, we will carry out topic discussions and focus on practical communication skills and help students improve their spoken Chinese. Situational discussions will cover Chinese customs, culture, and hotly debated issues. Communicative practice will allow students to learn more complicated and complex sentence patterns so that they can communicate with Chinese in specific situations. Chinese reading and writing ability will be also be improved in this class. Finally, students are expected to be able to pass the HSK 3 by enlarging their vocabulary to 600 Chinese characters and expanding their Chinese reading abilities.
